Dedication Ceremony To Be Held At Future Site of The Cancer Monument

A Dedication Ceremony to mark and celebrate the future building site of The Cancer Monument will be held on Saturday, November 1st from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The site is located at Allen Station Park on Cedar Avenue, situated between McDermott Avenue and Exchange Parkway in Allen. Pastor Tim O’Keefe of Eagle Ridge Church will lead the dedication.

"The opportunity to have this monument is indeed rare, states Pastor O’Keefe. It’s time for the community to come together in support of this grand cause and commit themselves to action."

Allen City Council officially allocated the park site to The Cancer Monument Inc., on September 9th, 2003. The Cancer Monument and the non-profit organization for which it is named, is the vision of Michelle Miller, founding President, cancer survivor and Allen resident. Once completed the monument will be donated to the City of Allen.

"Thanks to everyone at the City of Allen, it is now possible to have The Cancer Monument, states Miller. The next huge step towards building the monument rests with the public. If you know someone who has or is battling cancer, please honor him or her by having their name engraved on the granite walls of The Cancer Monument."
